Here in Moncton, Canada, at the heart of Global Organic Solutions, we're thrilled to unveil a project close to our hearts: "Seshat's Bones"—a novel, high-performance biocomposite material sourced entirely from the incredible Cannabis sativa L. plant.

For too long, we've relied on unsustainable materials that deplete our planet's resources. At Global Organic Solutions, we believe the answer lies in harnessing the power of nature, and there's no plant quite as versatile and sustainable as cannabis. With  countless potential applications and a remarkable ability to provide, Cannabis sativa L. stands as a beacon of a bio-based future.

Inspired by the groundbreaking work on hemp nanosheets and a deep commitment to a circular economy, "Seshat's Bones" is our endeavor to create a superior material where every single component originates from a single source: the Cannabis plant.

The Vision: A Truly Holistic Approach

Imagine a high-performance composite material where the very building blocks are cultivated, not extracted from finite resources. "Seshat's Bones" embodies this vision. We've meticulously researched and developed a process to transform various parts of the Cannabis sativa L. plant into the essential ingredients for our revolutionary biocomposite:

• The Mighty Matrix (From Seed & Flower): The foundation of "Seshat's Bones" is a robust polymer matrix created from epoxidized oil crosslinked with fatty acid-derived anhydrides. Both of these crucial components are derived from the oils (lipids) abundant in the seeds and flowers of the cannabis plant. Through careful extraction and chemical modification, we unlock the potential of these natural oils to form a strong and resilient base.

• Strength from Within (The Stalk & Stem): To give "Seshat's Bones" exceptional structural integrity, we harness the power of lignin, a complex polymer that provides rigidity to plants. Found in abundance in the stalks and stems of Cannabis sativa L., we isolate and functionalize this lignin to act as a primary reinforcement material within our composite.

• Boosting Performance (The Entire Biomass): After extracting the valuable oils and lignin, we don't let the remaining plant material go to waste. The structural biomass, including stalks, stems, and leaves, undergoes a process called pyrolysis, where it's heated in the absence of oxygen. This transforms it into pyrolyzed biochar, a high-surface-area material that acts as another effective reinforcement filler, enhancing the overall properties of "Seshat's Bones."
  

• The Nanoscale Advantage (Potentially from Stalk, Stem & Leaf): Building on the exciting discoveries in hemp nanotechnology, we aim to incorporate two-dimensional graphitic nanosheets derived from the carbonaceous components of the structural biomass (stalks, stems, and leaves). These nanoscale reinforcements, similar to the groundbreaking hemp nanosheets, will provide exceptional strength, conductivity, and other advanced properties, pushing the boundaries of what this biocomposite can achieve.
